Hannah Montana episode scrapped

Hannah Montana's latest checkup resulted in a troubling diagnosis

that ended up scrapping season 3's first episode

The Disney Channel confirmed to E! News that the network scrapped the episode it had intended to open the hit series' third season—an episode titled "No Sugar, Sugar" that features a character (Hannah's pal Oliver) dealing with diabetes. After some initial concerns as to how the disease was portrayed, it was not aired.

According to a network executive, the Disney Channel's Standards and Practices team consulted with medical experts during the script-writing process "to inform the story and be sure it was told responsibly."

"Notwithstanding the measures we took, and based on the episode's preview and early feedback from parents, we removed the episode from Sunday's schedule and are now reevaluating it," the Disney rep said.

"We will await the results of the episode review by a variety of experts and then will make a determination on the episode's future. Most importantly, we listened to those who expressed their concerns and consulted with the creative team (programmers and producers)."

It was then that they chose to pull the Nov. 2 episode, opting to make "He Ain't a Hottie, He's My Brother" the sitcom's season-three premiere instead. Episode No. 2, "Ready, Set, Don't Drive" (Billy Ray's message to the almost-16-year-old Miley, perhaps?) premieres Sunday.

"Still, there is great interest, especially from parents, in seeing the subject of living with diabetes somehow incorporated into our storytelling for kids and families, so we're hopeful we'll do so in the future," added the Disney Channel exec.

And it's not as if the Mouse House doesn't have a handle on the subject matter already. Also on Nov. 2, the Disney Channel aired an installment of Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream that explored how Nick Jonas manages his diabetes both at home and on tour. The 16-year-old JoBro appeared in a PSA afterward in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The gorgeous Miley Cyrus was photographed out & about in streets of Paris, France on Thursday. Miley stopped by the French TV station Canal Plus where she was surrounded by fans.

After hearing rumors that she was leaving Hannah Montana, Miley quickly squashed them by saying [via JustJared] , "No! We’ve got too many episodes to finish… I am staying with the show. It’s so much fun. We have a really good time — as much as it’s really hard work, it’s really great."

Disney Channel's Hannah Montana is back for Season 3 and we have the first three episode descriptions for you below!

3.01- Ready, Set, Don't Drive.
Airdate: November 9, 2008



Although she’s hoping to be the first in her class to drive, Miley fails her driver’s license test. She then successfully schemes for a pass by returning to the exam office as Hannah Montana, wowing the star-struck clerk. But when Miley accidentally drives for miles with her turn signal on, she’s pulled over by a police officer, shows Hannah Montana’s license and is taken into custody until she can convince the police officer and his daughter that she’s really Hannah Montana. Meanwhile, it’s every man for himself with Rico as a house guest at the Stewarts.

3.02- He Ain't a Hottie, He's my Brother.
Airdate: November 16, 2008



Miley is horrified when she finds out that Lilly has a secret crush on Jackson, and is shocked to find out that Jackson has a crush on Lilly. To keep them apart, she tells them both that the other isn’t interested, but her conscience catches up with her.

3.03- Don't go breaking my tooth.
Airdate: November 23, 2008



When Miley insists on going to the dentist without her father’s hand to hold she ultimately can’t go through with the treatment but doesn’t admit it to Robby. Her appearance as Hannah on a popular food show goes completely awry as a result of her swollen tooth.

Miley squashes Rumors!

Miley Cyrus has cleared up the rumors (once again) that she will not be leaving her Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana. Blogs like Perez Hilton have reported that the Teen Queen was 'trying to get fried from the show.'



Miley has taken a stand and opened up to People Magazine about the false rumors. "I am fully committed to Hannah Montana. It’s what gave me this amazing opportunity to reach out to so many people," Cyrus said. "I couldn’t do it alone. We have an amazing cast that is so supportive, including my dad who has been there for me every step of the way."

Whew! I didn't believe the rumors to begin with, but I'm glad Miley took the time to clear them up. How do you feel about it?

BFF's Selena/Demi star in Studio DC!
