But now after being out of the country for a week their loyal fans made sure the boys knew just how much they had been missed, and the crowds were so big the boys were escorted home by police.
And as Harry, Zayn, Louis, Liam and Niall arrived at Heathrow arrived back in the U.K. they were met by hundreds of screaming fans who had made their way to the airport to give the boys a warm reception as they arrived home.
Can you believe it? Louis and Liam seemed to enjoy the attention from the eager fansFemale members of airport staff were quick to take the hands of the boys and eagerly escorted them to the police van.
The boys were casually dressed in hoodies and a mixture of jumpers and jeans for the flight home.
But although they had just jetted in from a long-haul flight their admirers thought they were looking as hunky as ever and eagerly scrambled for a picture.

The crowd was so strong in number that police were present and the boys were pushed into a van and driven away leaving hysterical girls in their wake.
The X Factor stars had been living it up in L.A. for the past week lapping up the good weather and working on their debut album.
The boys weren’t the only famous faces at the airport in Britain but were definitely the most popular.
Veteran boybander Ronan Keating was also arriving at Heathrow on the same flight as the boys.
He tweeted: ‘Just landed at heathrow and when I walked out there were hundreds of screaming Fans Sadly not for me HaHa. One direction were on flight. X’

He said: ‘At least label not spoiling @onedirection yet. As they were not in first. Keep there feet on the Ground. Ha ha. As for me. ?’
